The booking system
A visitor wishing to participate in an event at the Museum can book a reservation using the Museum’s Digital Services. A one-time registration process is required to create an account.
What is an account?
By registering for an account to the Museum's Digital Services, we establish a personal relationship with you bringing a number of opportunities to your disposal. One of the most important is the ability to select aspects of the Museum's activities that are of your special interest to you. You can then receive e-mail notifications about all new activities that interest you, with the option to book your participation in advance.
What personal date are required to create an account?
The only required data for the creation of an account is your full name and your e-mail address. Optionally, you may provide us with additional personal information, but this is not required to create an account. Of course, you will provide a user name and a password of your choice.
Any data you provide to us will be stored in the Museum’s database only. We will never share your personal data with any other party or alter it in any way. In particular, the password remains under your personal control.
There are, though, some situations when we may ask for more data from you. For example, if you are an educator wishing to book remote educational programmes to be implemented in your school we will need additional information from you. For more information about remote educational programmes, please visit this page.
Who can create an account?
Anybody.
What is my account profile?
By creating an account with us, you can define parameters that will make our mutual relationship more personal and focused to your interests. For example, you can define aspects of our activities and events that interest you and be notified automatically as they are announced. You will also be able to use our Virtual Tour to create a customised visit to the Museum. More information about preparing customised visits please visit this page. Additionally, you may select your preferred language for communication (Greek or English).
What types of bookings are available?
According to the category of the activity, there are three types of bookings:
Booking for an activity that takes place on-site at the Museum.
In this case a booking has the following attributes:
For this type of booking, in most cases you will be able to see the available seats as well the maximum number seats you will be allowed to reserve.
Booking for an event that will be streamed live and that you can attend online remotely
This type is almost the same with on on site event, except that it does not require your presence in the Museum. Obviously, the number of available "seats" are greater in number, but you can book only one "seat".
Booking for remote educational programmes
This type of booking is a bit more complex because more parametres must be defined and choices for the logistics must be addressed. More information about remote educational programmes you can find here. Please note that all the education programmes are implemented in Greek.
What happens after a reservation is booked?
In the profile of your account, you will see all the bookings you have created for upcoming events in the Museum. On that page you can also cancel your booking if you will not be able to attend for any reason.
Please, we urge you to cancel any booking you will not attend, so other people may use the seats that were initially reserved for you.
You may cancel a booking up to 48 hours before an activity.
Two days ahead of the activity you booked for, you will receive an e-mail from us that will remind you about the activity. This message will include a Voucher for your reservation. You must present this voucher when you arrive at the museum (either printed on paper, or on your mobile device). We will scan this voucher upon your arrival, to evaluate if we can accommodate any participants who are willing to participate but they did not book (waiting list).
Can I participate in an activity without a reservation?
There is no guarantee of a seat without a reservation. However, guests arriving without a reservation will be accommodated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis if any seats are available immediately before the event.
I have an invitation to an event. Do I need to book?
No. If you have received an invitation, your seat is already reserved. The available seats for booking are calculated after counting the invited participants.
What must I do when I make a booking for a streamed event at the Museum?
For online events, the voucher that we will send you 48 hours before the event will contain a link through which you will connect to the live-stream. It will also state the time after which you may connect. You cannot connect to the event before the time mentioned in the voucher. If, however, you wish to connect at a later time, while the event is still going on, you can do so, missing the part of the session that has already transpired before you connected. Please note that all streamed events are also recorded and saved on our YouTube channel, giving you the opportunity to view the full session at a later time. However, in this case you will not have the ability to interact or to ask questions of the speaker(s)..
How can I get information about forthcoming events at the Museum?
In the home page of our web-site, we publish press releases in advance of new events. If the events require booking, you can start your reservation from that page.
If you have created an account with us and in your profile you have selected to be informed about events in a specific category, you will automatically be informed by e-mail.
Finally, visiting the Calendar page in the Digital Services section of our web-site, you will find a list of all forthcoming events with details about each of them.
Is there a fee using the booking system of the Museum?
Absolutely not. All digital services of the Museum are offered free of charge to all. However, attending events on-site at the Museum may require you to buy a ticket, as would be the case even without the booking system.
Do all of the events take place during the regular opening hours of the Museum?
Not necessarily. Please check the information of the event which will provide the date, time, and place of the event.
Sorry, but I don't have a connection or the skills to use the Internet. Can I still participate in events of the Museum?
The policy of our Museum is to gradually schedule all our events through the Museum’s Digital Services. However, we understand that some of you may find the process challenging for various reasons. If you are facing problems with online registration, please call us at XXX and our personnel will assist you establish a booking. We will give you a booking number which you can present to the concierge upon your arrival to the event.
Why have you installed this booking process altogether?
First and foremost, we love to record your participation to our activities!
We also want to establish a more personal relationship with you.
As our activities multiply and expand, we need to evaluate their success and appeal. Our activities are not organized capriciously, but they are designed through a careful and conscious process which we want to assess with data and feedback that you provide.
Beyond the numbers themselves, your participation is a life-bringing breath of fresh air for our organisation. But we prefer to know for certain about it rather to guess about it. And this, unfortunately, is poorly accomplished just with pen and paper.
